1. Yeah, I get why people didn't like the epilogue but found it very fitting.

2. I think OC/Canon character is really only a problem when the canon character takes over a function previously held by another character(s). So even an OC with a major character could work. And with a minor one, is it really that implausible?

Hmm that actually does make sense. The problem is less "Oh NO why is she pairing him with this person" and more "...um....he already HAS a canon girlfriend...why is she being shoved to the side for this person we don't know....okay....you're not going to address any of that are you?"

That kind of thing. But I feel like some people forget the important part "WHY its considered bad" and fixated on "it's BAD".

Ohh, yeah, that too. I guess I was assuming it was a canon character not already with someone to begin with, like Harry Potter fics before HBP. Yeah, if the character is attached that's different.

It really shouldn't be that big of a deal. I mean, I hate Harry/Draco but I don't tell people not to write it.

Yeah. and especially breaking up a canon couple for the sake of an OC that's uh no. It's better to have the story take place at a time the canon couple never got together if you're going to do that.

(The only time I've considered an exception to that was when an fandom friend I knew had Danny eventually break up with Sam for her OC...and that was mostly because she had it happen slower...and because due to the way it was pulled off in canon, I honestly feel like Danny/Sam would probably break up anyway. The way the canon did it bothered me a lot because it felt like Danny was always having to concede and Sam was always right. /bluh old gripe of mine)
