Interesting the different approaches to fandom. I've never wanted to actually have sex with any character or actor myself, but I really get off on reading/imagining/writing about the characters having sex with each other.

Yeah, pretty much.

OH WAIT. It occurs to me that there are a couple of characters I've wanted to have sex with. But they are definitely the exception.

Yeah, same for me. I have exactly one exception. Granted, for the longest time I did like some veiled self-insert-y characterizations or even OCs fics too...

ugh, this is nayrt, btw

I have two. But, well...two is a pretty low number, especially considering all the fiction I've consumed in my life.

To me, it's more than that. I genuinely enjoy good fiction.

(But the characters to have sex with is a fun part)

I'll fantasize about myself with a character(s) every so often, but I like imagining them with each other much more.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-11 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Same here. I'll have self-insert fantasies sometimes, but most often I want to see the characters getting it on with each other.

It's sometimes this for me.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-11 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
And sometimes I want to be friends with or actually be that character. But, a lot of the time, I just want to watch.

Most of my favorite shows have an actor I think is hot in them but honestly I mostly watch for the adventures and character interaction. Too much romantic nonsense and I'll tune out, no matter how attractive the characters are.

For me, I think, "Geez, sure would be nice to bang Steve Rogers", but I don't actually imagine having sex with him. There's this disconnect that prevents me from doing it.

So I just keep the fantasies to people within the given 'verse.

However, yea, I have a thing for SO many fictional characters. It's frankly ridiculous.

Ha, I can sort of picture banging Bucky Barnes.

Realistically though, we might not be the healthiest of pairs (though hey, sometimes that can lead to pretty hot sex).

You just fixed your own problem.

Steve is hotter than me anyway so I guess there's nothing wrong with sticking to Steve/Bucky, but...uh, yes.

I assume you're being hyperbolic, OP, so I tend to agree. Media serves all sorts of purposes for me, one of them being to produce hot characters I'd like to sex up.

Sometimes I feel like that's the underlying basis for at least 3/4ths of fandom.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-11 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing wrong with that, OP! I have been known to think about such things myself. :)

Aww, art does help people!

this is telling about the media you're consuming. i mean this in a totally neutral way, btw.
