It's an interesting thing to wonder about, because Walt's life could have potentially been so different. He might've stayed with the company, and so when he was diagnosed, he might have had enough money to not have to worry about his family's financial well-being. Or, they could've ended badly, and he might've left the company anyway, but he would have passed up on the opportunity to date Skylar and so never made a family. Or...or...or...
