Found more!
Can't Pretend by Tom Odell http://youtu.be/B4-OxOmsqR0

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 01:03 am (UTC)(link)- "This Used to Be My Playground" by Madonna is good, except it's a little sad.
- "All You Wanted" and "You Get Me" by Michelle Branch both work.
- "I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne. Don't laugh, it's underrated.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 01:09 am (UTC)(link)Hey Brother - Avicii
On Top of the World - Imagine Dragons
Against History - Dan Wilson
You Told the Drunks I Knew Karate - Zoey Van Goey
Comfort - Carbon Leaf
Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel
I think there are some good ones I'm forgetting; I'll come back later if any more occur.
Re: Love songs that don't sound explicitly romantic
I mean, most love songs actually don't explicitly mention sex at all, so there's that.
Lovesong (originally by the Cure) is pretty good for this. I personally like the Imagine Dragons cover, but your results may vary.
Re: Love songs that don't sound explicitly romantic
(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 02:33 am (UTC)(link)I think about my best friend when I hear this song. I guess people can read it romantically, but eh, it's definitely about two people having a strong friendship (the word friendship is used in the song).

and "As Is"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYe2NhwXhqk
(this second one can be read as either friendship or "romance" I think *g* I just love the lines "Just give up and admit you're an asshole/ You would be in some good company/ And I think you'd find that your friends would forgive you/ Or maybe I am just speaking for me."
Re: Love songs that don't sound explicitly romantic
(Anonymous) 2014-09-12 02:41 am (UTC)(link)Also, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers. Can totally be read as friendship, and even when read romantically, it sounds WAY more like them talking to their longtime wife, not to some head-over-heels new love affair.
