Re: how you handle frustration

Can't change your mom. You can only control your reaction to her. I know it's hard when a parent knows all your buttons and which ones to push, but you have to not let yourself get baited. Or at least try to get baited less.

When your sister claims downstairs, you should claim her room. No reason for a good room to go to waste.

Try to forgive yourself for not reacting the way you wanted in the moment. Remember that asserting oneself isn't about putting someone in their place, or having that awesome zinger, it's about letting your opinion/stance be known to someone else, whether or not that person agrees with you.

Sorry, not sure I have any advice for dealing with frustration, though. I've kind of been moving backward in the "healthy ways of dealing with frustration" thing. I used to dance or exercise but now I've got way too much shit on my mind and too much to do that by the time I remember what I can do, the day is completely over.

Sometimes listening to certain music helps too.

Once I got so pissed off, I did heavy housework. Like, lifting heavy stuff and moving it and vacuuming and stuff. I was pretty tired at the end of it. I'd love to be able to go on a run, but without a pet, I get nervous with all those stories about people getting mugged while out on a walk/jog.

Do you have pets? If so, and they're the type that can give love back, then play with them, brush them, pet them, etc. When I had cats, I would brush them while listening to the sound of them purring.

I'm half-joking about the sister's room thing. But in the event you need an empty room and can't find one, I'm just saying...
