Sometimes I can't understand this 'all kinks are equal' attitude. No, some kinks are not equal. Some of them are a sign of mental illness - paedophilia and vorarephilia are both signs of sickness.

What makes pedophilia a mental illness but not chopping off your scrotum and calling yourself a woman?

If you mean that it's a widespread cultural practice in some areas of the world on the other hand... I'd say it's impossible to distinguish between actual sexual kink there and it being cultural practice. And of course it's wrong. Women cannot safely bear children until their teens at the earliest. To force girls to have sex and become pregnant is sick. If you want anymore reasons that it's obviously not a natural practice then look up fistulas, maternal malnutrition and child brides.

As for homosexuality - of course it's not wrong. Don't be ridiculous. Again, entrenched prejudices resulting from a code of practice established in another time does not mean something's wrong.

Having gender reassignment surgery is *not* an illness. Gender identity can be independent of your physical form, and gender reassignment is simply correcting when those two things are not in agreement.

there is a difference between pedophilia (meaning "child-loving", i.e. ones sexual orientation converging on pre-adolescent children) and sexual abuse. There are lots of people whose spectrum of sexual orientation includes or borders on pedophile tendencies, but it's a wholly different matter to act out these tendencies or desires.
Now, people who do, like you said, often suffered sexual abuse themselves, directly or indirectly, within their close environment. Aside from that there are cases of combined sadism and lack of empathy/sociopathy, and a few cases in which the desires are overwhelming and compulsive, and many people who experience these compulsive desires don't seek help because the whole topic is laden with taboo.

I just wish people would be precise with these sensitive subjects.
(Like when a cultural Stereotype is automatically labeled racist. WTF.)
