I don't take people who don't capitalize properly or type out full words (e.g. "if u care abt this reblog") seriously. I know it's wrong, but I just can't break myself of it.

Same. It in turn bothers me when someone on Facebook will say "my dog died" and there'll be a response that says "im praying 4 u." I have to hold back the urge to say, "if you cared that much, you'd bother to type the damn thing out."

Although I think some of it is that I'm old, and remember when - aside from chatrooms and AIM - netspeak generally was used either by preteens or by trolls trying to be silly. So seeing a forty year old use it is like seeing a forty year old in pigtails wearing a Dora the Explorer t-shirt, basically. Okay, not that bad, bu...

I don't mind no-caps for comments that are just a couple sentences and even type like that myself a lot of the time, but I just can't read posts where people write fucklong paragraphs entirely in lowercase. I guess it's because I'm used to sort of skimming the really long posts on forums etc. before reading them and use the beginnings of sentences/proper nouns to get a general idea of the subject (and therefore decide whether it'd be worth it to read). But when everything is lowercase and nothing seems to have any special importance my eyes just glaze over and more often than not I end up skipping it entirely.

I guess I'd do the same for all-caps, too, but you don't see that as much.

Lol. There's a Facebook page for my high school reunion and it is so obvious that some people never paid attention in English class.

It isn't that I can't take them seriously, but it does kind of throw me off. (Especially when people don't type out full words. If it's something like 'lol' or they're using 'tbh' or 'idk' then I'm fine with it and abbreviate those things myself, but it isn't as pleasing to the eye and apparently that kind of thing bothers me a bit. I might not get why people don't capitalize, but it doesn't stand out in the same way.)

That said, I have friends who do both, so... It isn't like it's that big a deal.

I don't think it's wrong. Expecting that people should capitalize and write properly isn't unreasonable.
