I've begun to realize the reason I haven't found a fandom I like has nothing to do with tumblr or LJ dying or anything else. It's that I continue to hold everyone to the same standards of the Harry Potter fandom, even though the Harry Potter fandom could be so cliquey and elitist. That's why the first time I went to a community where netspeak and off-topic discussion was allowed, I acted like I'd been thrown into a pit of doom. That's why I still can't find too many communities I like.

The thing is, when I was in the HP fandom, the cliques and occasional elitism was what bothered me the most. Apparently I was more like them than I realized.
