Is There a Reverse Tumblr-Savior?

(Anonymous) 2014-09-13 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't go on tumblr for a week. And I was terrified to check again because I'm compulsive about catching up with stuff like that. Last time I didn't go on for three days I came back to thirty pages of posts.

So today while I checked, I did a mass unfollow on people who didn't post much of what I had followed them for in the first place. I feel SO much better. And yet...

Well, take Tamora Pierce for a second. I adore her writing, but 95% of her tumblr is reblogs (veering strongly into SJW territory, even for her), she barely tags anything and she doesn't understand the concept of a queue. When she shows there's a bombardment. But 5% of the time, she'll post something really interesting about her characters that I really want to see. Something similar happens with an artist I follow. I came for one fandom and it's great they love others, but there's only so much filtering I can do.

So is there some way to follow someone but only for a specific kind of post? I mean, the other option is to Tumblr Savior everything but the thing you want, but that's nearly impossible because you never know what'll catch the other blogger's eye. Thoughts?

Blacklist their name, and whitelist whatever term they use for the interesting stuff.

xkit has a whitelist mode that's in the blacklist add-on if that's what you're thinking?

Get TS and blacklist the people she reblogs from if you don't like them?

Does she use a specific tag for the kind of posts you like? Then you could just track that tag.

Another option is to get XKit. It has an extension called "Mute". You can block certain types of posts, block all original posts or block all reblogs by a user.
