I've realized I tend to conform to the general style of posting of whatever space I'm in.

In female dominated spaces, I find myself being more emotional and judgmental.

In male dominated spaces, I find myself being more intellectual and detached.

I don't really like what this says about me, to be honest.

People do this all the time though, irl and online.

But lol @ the more intellectual part in male dominated space.

Well…it's true, unfortunately.

In female spaces, I tend to squee over shipping and laugh at gifs and read fluffy fanfic.

In male spaces, I tend to analyze the morality of character actions, or discuss possible plot rewrites, or talk about how history is incorporated into the work which I would say are more "intellectual" pursuits.

It might be because the female space is Tumblr and I've found Tumblr's layout REALLY doesn't encourage discussion.

My "male -oriented" fandoms also tend to skew a bit older (such as Star Wars) which may be why you less rage quitting. Although the fanboy entitlement and whining is still present, make no mistake.

I know maybe you think this is a bad thing....but it might actually be a GOOD thing. Like, learning how to adjust to your environment. How to fit in. How to socially and intellectually engage with those around you. It's all good and well to be yourself, but a healthy person also knows how to connect with those around them.

It's like you're reading the temperature of the room you're in and then acting accordingly. This is not a bad thing AT ALL.

What, that you subscribe to a lot of sexist notions regarding male vs female spaces?
