In general I find black women the most attractive, but I'm terrified of saying anything incase it comes across as racist. (I'm white.)

Just don't be a dick or make generalizations.

And if you fuck up, admit that you were wrong, apologize for saying something hurtful (even if you didn't mean it that way), and try to do better.

People value sincerity in my experience.

I know you're right, anon. I just... like the anon below said, Tumblr's really gotten to me. I feel as if nothing I say is right!

Fortunately most people, in real life, don't act like they do on Tumblr. (And thank goodness for that!)

So if you see an attractive black lady at, say, a bar or something, just treat her like a normal person. Ask after her interests, her job, her hobbies.

And just be nice. Telling her you think her hair or skin is beautiful. Or that she has a gorgeous face.

Just shy away from making generalizations about black women. Because then she might get the impression that you're ONLY interested in her because she's black rather than because you like her as a person. No one wants to feel like a check mark on another person's list.

I don't generalize as far as I'm aware. I just seem to have a type. It's not everyone...

Thanks for the advice, anon. Makes me feel much better (and more confident about talking to someone next time I'm in that situation). The last thing I want to do is cause offence to someone.

I feel that way too and I'm part black. Tumblr's gotten to me, I'm worried I will be accused fetisizing or something.

This. This is exactly my problem.

I think it's fetishizing if you treat all black women the same.

Saying "I love dark skin" or "I love red hair" isn't really fetishizing, in my opinion.

It's when people say things like "I love Asian women because they're so delicate and submissive" for example -- because not all asian women are like that.

Thank you, anon. This really made me feel a bit better. I like darker shades of color when it comes to skin and because of that I find black women particularly attractive. I don't think I'm fetishizing, but sometimes I worry. I don't generalize or anything like that.
