Re: In honor of #3
Dumbledore being out and out evil, stealing money from Harry's bank accounts, trying to force him to date someone he doesn't like, and whatnot are not in-character at all.
TBH I would expect this kind of thing from a young writer. Someone who hasn't developed subtly an nuance. I once wrote a story when I was 16 or 17 where a character was supposed to be sorta evil and nobody realized it but some kid character who was his sibling. When I looked at the story again I couldn't help but laugh because I realized that the evil character was so obviously evil that you'd have to be an idiot not to realize he was up to something sinister.
I guess its the same thing with the Dumbledore characterizations. they go so overboard in the EVIL part and forget nuance or subtlety.
Also the stories where everyone is trying to keep Harry and Hermione apart or Harry is forced to date Ginny instead to be really stupid. The fact that the whole damn wizard world cares who a teenager is dating is just..."what?"
