Gundam Wing is my forever anime love. This secret and this whole thread is just so depressing. XD;

It's mine too, even though I got into it way later than most. :)

It's never too late to get into it! I keep meaning to host a GW watch/rewatch thing but, man, so little time.

Better late than never, I suppose. Still a bit sad I missed the fandom's heyday, but it couldn't be helped since I was nine at the time and didn't have internet. Plus, I didn't watch it on Toonami for some reason. Was too distracted by YYH, Sailor Moon, Tenchi, DBZ, etc. The only Gundam I watched on it was G Gundam, which I fucking love.

Been meaning to give it a rewatch too. Got caught up with Glory of the Losers, but it skips a lot of stuff. The art is great though. Where would you host it?

Oh man. The fandom was such a trainwreck. The het vs yaoi wars were so OTT, especially 1x2 vs 1xR. The most popular fics were definitely being written by people who'd never watched the show. Character bashing was so prevalent (mostly Relena, but sometimes Quatre and Duo too!). It was just to vile.

It was so much fun.

Eh, probably here on DW. I was thinking of just hosting it on my journal and advertising.

I'm glad I missed out on the ship wars and character bashing. Especially since my favorite character is one of the most bashed in the fandom, from what little I saw.

What I'm sad I missed out was all those websites that hosted fic. Might have missed out on some great fic for my ships.. And to be able to have people to discuss my ships with, especially on the pairing comms on lj.

Oh, if I get my comp back in time and getting around to making a DW account, I will so be there. :)

Oh yes, for all its faults, GW had a huge, prolific community. The GW yahoo comm got over 1000 messages daily. There were multiple pairing communities and so many fanfic archives. It was so awesome. It was my first real fandom and I adored it so much. ;3;

Woo! \o/!

It really was huge and active. A shame a lot of those archives are lost now. God, I wish I had a time machine so I could experience it.

Make sure you get a hold of a torrent for the remastered version. It looks so good.

The best archives were from anipike. D: SO. MANY. CHARACTER SHRINES. And fic sites, and art sites and JUST GAH.

So much of it was lost to time and the geocities/etc thing.....:C

I was just thinking of Gundam Wing last night!

Picture an excited 13-year-old planted in front of her TV, anxiously awaiting the dub TV premiere of GW on Canada's kid network YTV. She starts watching and is confused as fuck. She knows some of these characters by sight and recognizes some of the names being said, but she has no idea what the shit is going on. Why are there no explanations? Why aren't they introducing any of these characters? Holy shit, the big bad behind everything is a little girl?!

...that's right, YTV aired Endless Waltz as the lead-in to episodes 1 and 2.
