pantswarrior: Spock and Bones go "WTF". Unsurprisingly, at their captain. (wtf)

Similar situation a couple weeks ago. For International Cosplay Day, my sis-in-law and I went to the park to take pictures in her Radical Edward costume (complete with Ein plushie and some RC cars for Ed to be playing with) and my kid!Link costume (with Kokiri Sword, Deku Shield, and fishing pole since there's a stream there).

We kept getting people running up to me and going "OMG LINK!", which was not surprising because his look hasn't changed hugely over 30 years of games and OoT was even just rereleased - but no one seemed to know Ed, and I was like... what the heck, Ed's like one of the most popular characters in an almost-universally-considered-awesome anime. Then I realized that some of the kids who were running up and telling me I made an awesome Link hadn't even been BORN when Cowboy Bebop was airing on Cartoon Network.

Sis-in-law and I were suddenly all D: at this realization. We're both cosplaying kids, and we are clearly OLD. XD

The first episode I ever saw of Cowboy Bebop (we didn't have cable, so it was on a trip) was the one where they find the Betamax video. I was the age of the girl in the home footage.

When I bought my DVD copy and saw that episode again, I was Faye's age. Ouch, Cowboy Bebop. Ouch. At least that won't happen when the blu-ray finally comes out this year!
shahrizai: (berserk - guts~)

I remember when you did your Sydney cosplay and all the cute little fangirls thought you were Edward Elric.
pantswarrior: Spock's sehlat is a very serious sehlat. (srs bsns)

At least that SORT OF made sense because FMA was huge and popular at the moment, and Vagrant Story has always been kind of obscure.

My "omg kids today" stories are all eclipsed, though, by some Cloud and Aeris cosplayers who report being recognized at recent cons as "those Kingdom Hearts characters" and people wonder why their costumes have some extra bits and inaccuracies...
