Must do, otherwise tracking dogs don't work. Reckoning a lot must be diet though, like an Indian who eats a lot of curry will always have curry smell coming out their pores, or how Irish people smell of stale beer if they are heavy drinkers. Or how male porn stars always smell of pineapples.

It might be in their clothes but I doubt it's coming out of their pores, anon. Anyone who just ate curry is going to smell like curry.

No, the Curry one is backed up by science.

Curries contain chemical compounds that translate into body odor. If someone eats curries regularly then they are flat out going to smell of curry 24/7.

Those sure are some stereotypes.

NAYRT - Wouldn't a stereotype be presuming that ALL Indians eat curry, or that ALL Irish are heavy drinkers? The statement was "an Indian who eats a lot of curry" and the Irish statement was "if they are heavy drinkers". I suppose you're decrying the fact that the ethnicity was mentioned at all.

I'm of an Irish background, and I don't drink at all (therefore, don't smell of stale beer), but I understand where the stereotype came from. The trick is that you don't apply it to everyone, but there is a reason why it became a stereotype.

No idea about the pineapples, though.

Mentioning the ethnicities still evokes the stereotype, no matter how it is phrased. Why do you have to mention Indians or the Irish? Why couldn't the OP just have said 'someone who eats a lot of curry' or 'someone who is a heavy drinker'. The way it is phrased almost implies that one has to be both Indian AND eat a lot of curries to smell like curry, and that anyone else who eats a lot of curries would smell normal.

Well the trouble is that most traditional Indian Families do eat a lot of curry, because it is their traditional staple and there is nothing wrong with that. And Irish do tend to be heavily biased towards being heavy drinkers, for the same reason. it isn't unfair to note that correlation.

...pineapples?

It's said to improve the taste of semen. So I'll take a guess and reckon male porn star would ingest large quantities of pineapple to make it more palatable to their coworkers?

Eating pineapple is supposed to make semen taste less bitter.

Interesting that it's pineapple specifically and not sweet fruit in general.

Pineapple has a fairly distinctive taste though which is very different from most other fruit's.

That's true, but would that necessarily make it the only fruit to improve the taste of semen? It would improve it in a certain, distinctive way, yes, but it seems like other fruit would also do the job, just in a different way.

Haha, oh gods, I want to test this, now. I feel both creepy and nerdy.

In general, more fruits and veggies will help semen taste better. I've also heard that flavors of ice cream help the taste, too, but never experimented.

That's what I had always thought: fruits and veggies (for the most part) = pleasant; meat and starch = unpleasant. It's strange to me to come across the idea that there's an Uber Fruit, as it were.

Pineapples are also known to contain an enzyme that denatures proteins, so maybe there is the thought that they act on the sperm that way?

Re: A question I never thought I'd ask

[personal profile] a_potato 2014-09-14 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The ejaculate surrounding the sperm, maybe, but...from what I can find out about that particular enzyme, it doesn't seem like it would have any impact on semen (it's used to treat inflammation).

But, hey, I just learned about bromelain, which is pretty awesome!

Really, though, I wonder if the potency of the flavor is just what does it. You can get the same effect using other foods, but maybe it just takes longer (so pineapple is the "quick fix").

Its the sharpness of fresh pineapple, it cuts through the creamy texture of semen.
