I'll always have a soft spot for Fullmetal Alchemist because it was one of my first big anime fandoms, and I also met my bff through it. I admit to not liking Brotherhood as much either despite some of the arcs and new characters being excellent, but maybe my nostalgia factors into it? (Maybe the fact that I found the ending of Brotherhood really underwhelming as well, but either way both series were enjoyable and I understand liking them. I haven't read the manga, though I always wanted to.)
