You know, I wasn't expecting much from this season (no I don't have a hateboner for Moffat) but it's surprised me. Not going to say I think it's perfect (I'm a bit underwhelmed by some of the stories), but so far I can deal because I'm enjoying Capaldi immensely. He's different in a refreshing way and I'm impressed by his presence.

He did more with a glance than Eleven did with a whole season. I absolutely LOVED his interaction with Robin Hood.

Clara, on the other hand.... AUGH. And after the last episode: AAAAAAUGHHHHH! God f*cking dammit! WHY?! (Not that fond of Danny, either. If anything, I ship Whouffaldi - sorry, Peter.)

I liked Matt Smith, but I didn't always like the writing or the stories. I feel like I would've enjoyed last season more had he been given more to work with. Capaldi def has more gravitas though, and I feel like he's probably the superior actor but I also haven't seen Smith in anything else so I don't know how fair that assessment is.

Never been a huge Clara fan because I feel like there's untapped potential in the character, but imo the actress has felt more natural this season. Still not sure I always like what she's given, but...it's at least a bit of an improvement for me. I've enjoyed her more in the last couple episodes than all of last season.
