A character's being assigned a certain gender does not in any way inherently make them a superior character yo. I've probably read about 5000 books in my lifetime (not an exaggeration, I OWN over 600) and I've never noticed that gender INHERENTLY made a character better or worse, only the way in which that character's personality and behavior was written. Sometimes the character's personality is written so that it depends on tired and annoying gender tropes, but that's the fault of the author not knowing how to write a particular gender as people. Not the fault of the character's having been assigned that gender in itself.
