What do you mean, if you're able to say?

I'll try to elaborate.

Say you have a multi-chaptered fic, rated explicit, that basically does a slow burn build up to a sex-scene...and that scene is sort of boring, disappointing, unimaginative?

It bugs me, especially if the author has proven in the previous 8 or whatever chapters that that CAN write well, CAN build up tension, and DO understand the character dynamic.

Yet for some reason it's the most generic, lazy sex scene you'd expect from a newbie writer.

Okay, I can kind of understand that. It's kind of like they "phoned in" the actual sex, because they couldn't figure out how to write it.

Yes, or they just weren't all that into it but felt they had to write it or whatever?

Well, sometimes after writing all that slow build up, a person can get 'spent' and not be up to writing the actual sex scene itself? Especially if the readers are chomping for it and you feel you have to deliver but aren't in the mood right then to "carry it to the finish line" properly.

Not that this has, uh, ever happened with me or anything.

I understand that, I guess - but in that case I just wish they'd take more time for the update and take their time, if it means a good result..
