It's a long story. And it's not between "friends" its a fandom relationship.

Specifically, the people in question left the Hetalia fandom for reasons that included people getting overly-invested in them ...to a point where it approached stalking for one of the women involved.

They also happened to be friends of mine at the time (unrelated, I was never a Hetalia fan) so I'm aware of how much trauma was actually involved with the situation that's being referenced. It's not up for discussion, because it's not something they are comfortable sharing to people who are just fans of their writing.

That is disturbing. I doubt OP's intent was stalkerish though. I've had groups in fandom whose relationship I admired, and it is terrible to see them fall apart.
