I vaguely remember Kurousa saying it had nothing to do with WWII, but IA the song makes me pretty uncomfortable

If it makes you feel any better, it's probably mostly just military fetishism and not nationalistic sentiment. There are tons of guys who think girls in military gear/as transforming military equipment is the most cho kawaiiest thing that ever kawaiied here but who are staunch anti-war, pro-constitionalistis IRL.

I wonder where are you from, OP.

Because, I'm sorry, but if you are American it would be rich coming from someone from the country that inflicts tons of war themed uber-patriotic series/movies etc. to the rest of the world (and we suck it up), and this secret would fall into the "does it made me umcomfortable when it's not about me?" trope.

I enjoy when I see military stuff from other countries for a change.

OP here
Not American.

From one of the countries that got invaded actually.

This doesn't seem like a particularly American sentiment, tbh, so I would guess no.

Does it count if one is slightly uncomfortable with it as an American who is also really, really uncomfortable with American glamorization of the military? It is frankly a lot worse than that video.

i second your notion op

then again all japanese imperialistic/war/wwii-era fetishism etc imagery makes me uncomfortable - even if it is just for fun, and as an aesthetic, not because the people producing the material actually support the actions of japan during this time

i also dislike nazi imagery, red army imagery, etc, when it is used exclusively for the sake of aesthetics... i'm probably just too sensitive, but whatever
