Being a trans man.

Thinking you need dysphoria to be trans. Thinking that being trans isn't a choice.

That last one kinda pisses me off the most (tho I never talk about trans stuff because I don't have a dog in that race)

Like LGBT people fight for rights and fight against the idea that its a choice for ages, and these jokers come in like "but being trans IS a choice" "...." "it's just the RIGHT choice. everybody be trans!" and a bunch of people go along with it. *sigh*

Apparently that idea springs from the same font as "political lesbianism" (as in, not actually sexually attracted to women but "all about female spaces" and shit like that) so... take that as you will.

Yeah. I mean I've heard political lesbians be like "some people choose DEAL WITH IT" and I just wonder "have you been living under a ROCK for the last two decades?"

Also I've seen some stuff written by political lesbians about "I can't stand seeing my poor friends with men. I need to tell them about political lesbianism" and it comes across very creepy to me. Sort of like 'Entitled Nice guys" the same philosophy "those guys you're dating are jerks and assholes , why don't you date me?"

but yeah. I don't have a problem with women making choices on who they want to date. But I have a problem with people shouting from the rooftops that orientation is a choice

even if they think its the better choice.

Sorry if I sound like a jerk.

You don't sound like a jerk at all. I agree that there is no one way to approach ones orientation and I'm willing to admit that my experience with the entitled "you just don't know any better" bent of political lesbianism has probably coloured my opinion on it. Especially since they love to throw bi and pan women under the bus pretty regularly.

I couldn't stand someone doing that to me, treating me like I "just didn't know any better". Also while I don't mind feminism itself, I dislike the kind of feminists who only seem to respect your choices when it matches there's.

If I had a friend who kept patronizingly trying to "save" me from my boyfriend I'd end up getting mad and laying down an ultimatum-

"either you respect my personal life decisions, or we're done."

Like they don't have to agree if I do something fucked up but like dictating who I date? HELL NO.
