All Fey women's clothing are made of spandex because of exactly this kind of situation, duh.

Actually, funny storyish time? I used to be in a Japanese Immersion school, and every year we'd have to dress in kimonos to dance in various things. It is amazing how much you can tuck fabric to make a large kimono fit a small child, especially since you're going to be putting an obi over the top anyway, and that can hide the tucks/extra fabric.

So I always figured that the Fey women wore over-sized kimonos, just with the extra material tucked properly so that they fit, and with the tucks hidden by the obi. During the seance, the clothing would be loosened, and afterwards, it would be retucked. Of course, there's only so much fabric you can magic away, which is why boobs, but the rest of her is covered. I could be wrong, but I like my headcanon.

Kimono are designed to be 'too big' and purposefully made with too much material as they know they'll just tuck and fold them to the right length. Comes from when it was fashionable for upper class women to have long hems that fanned out on the floor behind them, which of course wasn't practical out of the home, so they had to tuck them to shorten them. That and it's a pride thing for kimono makers. You don't get tailor measured for kimono, they're all made from a single bolt of cloth.

I didn't know that! I just remember what a pain it was to have to stand there as the teachers would keep messing with the kimono- it was like, "come on! Just tie the obi already, I want to go talk with my friends!" So that's cool to find out!

If you're interested, I recommend 'Kimono' and 'Geisha' by Liza Dalby. The first is purely about the history of kimono and how they evolved from 'fashion for layers stolen from the Chinese' to 'everyday wear for both sexes that changes with fashion' to 'ultimate Japaneseness clothing and limited to a particular type and style only worn for Japanese cultural things'. The second is about geisha (and Liza's time as an 'American Geisha' in the 70s), with a section on geisha and kimono (being the last real group to wear them as 'everyday clothes' and how their kimono differ to what most other women wear when they wear a kimono).

But she didn't. Lady's popping all out over the place and probably literally crossing her arms all the time in her sprite animations because damn everything will spill if she doesn't hold that flappy fabric herself.
