I like h/c best when no one did the hurting. The character just got sick, or was in an accident of some kind.

Of course I think I'm also a little weird because I really only like both going on at once, character A in pain/miserable while B tries hard to help/comfort. Just the hurt without someone trying to help, or the comfort without touching on the hurt much is just meh.
