I thought so too. Since I don't really seek out that genre I still tend to think of it that way.

Not sure if I'd call that abuse though. Sometimes people argue, or sometimes they hurt each other through accidents or misunderstanding. These things can become abusive though. But then I think of abuse as something continuous, so my view may not be best.
