See, I thought that Book 2 is where it really got going, starting with the First Avatar arc. That was such a turnaround for me. And Book 3 is just YAY EVERYTHING IS AWESOME :D

Book 2 ended okay but the first half is a complete mess. Book 1 was much stronger as a whole - I probably wouldn't have kept watching if Book 2 had been the beginning.

wow okay. A couple of people here have commented to the effect of not liking year two, but for me, I thought it was stronger from start to finish, with the first half on par with the better bits of year one. This is genuinely the first time I've heard these opinions; I'm rather wondering what you and the other people are reacting against.

(Which isn't a challenge, or something, I'm just surprised.)

you really don't need to say this to everyone who disagrees with you, you know. it's pretty commonly accepted in the wider fandom that the end of book 2 and book 3 are where lok hit its stride.

sure we can do this all day

da

These are some of the issues I had with Book 2:

1. Unalaq is a horrible villain with no personality or motivation.
2. Waterbending gets even MORE overpowered with Spiritbending.
3. Everyone becomes an idiot so that Mako can look like a hero.
4. Bolin is in an abusive relationship that's played for laughs & forces a kiss on an unwilling woman.
5. Jinora ex mahina
6. Aang was a bad father/the only one whose issues with Aang's parenting got resolved was Tenzin, who needed it the least.
7. Katara looking sadly on while her children fight/having nothing to do with the Southern Watertribe resistance. (Why even have her on the show when she doesn't even show up to the ceremony at the end of Book 3?)
8. Korra still solving her problem by acting all Jack Bauer on them.
9. Wan being a more interesting character than Korra in just two episodes.
