Yeah, this.

This reminds me of the time a (former) friend of mine was commissioned by someone for a picture of their player character from an RPG. Apparently, the commissioner told my friend that they had commissioned a very popular artist in the fandom, but didn't like the end result because it was 'too anime'. Never mind the fact the artist in question had a very distinctly anime-esque style in ALL their work.

All I can ever say to stuff like that is "I don't know what I was expecting". It's like commissioning someone, say... Tom Preston, and expecting art on par with the Masters when you know full and well your end picture may be a complete boondoggle.

Also, asking for a refund this late in the game is generally considered to be tacky and rude, imho. If you weren't pleased with it back then, then you should have said something at the time. =/

Man. I know you were probably typing this while OP replied, but this comes across as sooooo douchey coming after OP saying that they looked at the artist's work and wouldn't have commissioned them if they hadn't liked it.

For real, I thought the whole point of the secret was that the OP's piece did NOT match the quality of the artist's usual stuff, and that's why s/he is upset, understandably.

Yeah, I definitely read this from the secret. Obviously OP has looked at and compared their piece to other pieces, if they've looked to see that theirs didn't get posted.
