It's bigger. Bigger is better.

This is America, Kaijinscendre.

But...where do you rinse your dishes???? I fill one side up with washing water and the other side for sitting dishes to rinse. Can't do that with a single sink. IT IS MADNESS! MADNESS I TELL YOU!

Yes, this is my issue with the big sink! Though I had to try washing my large pastry mat in my split sink recently, and I was thinking that a bigger sink would be mighty useful...

Bigger, Kaijin! BIGGER!

Actually I don't quite get what you mean. What do you mean by washing vs rinsing? Like, soaking?

In the left sink you put got water and dish soap. Then you wash your dishes. You put the soapy, clean dishes in the right sink to be rinsed. You do this so you don't have to waste water and time rinsing each piece as you wash it. Then you put the rinsed dishes into the dish drainer to dry.

You rinse your dishes in the sink, and then you wash them in the dishwasher. Need to soak a large roasting pan, lasagna pan or cookie sheet covered in baked-on gunk? They fit easily into a big sink like the one in my parents' house back east, whereas with the double sink I have here in Iowa, neither side is big enough. There's room to fill a huge bowl with ice water, or to wash a watermelon that's muddy.

Yep, I love my parents' big sink.

Ah. I love washing dishes by hand. We have a dishwasher but never use it. I didn't even know if it worked until one of my nieces turned it on.

Yis. I haven't used a dishwasher in....thirty years, I'd say.

yeah, that's why a big sink is great...if you have a dishwasher.

If you don't, a double is a must.
