All the time when I was a kid. It was like a ritual. My mom would bring me a book and I'd refuse to read it, we'd have an argument about it and later I would start reading the book just before going to bed and then I stay up reading and mom tells me to turn off the light and go to bed and we argue again. That happened with Sherlock Holmes and Three Musketeers and many other books.
