I'm sorry this happened to you, OP. I've commissioned a lot of pieces from artists, and in my experience, if you're not happy, you need to say something right away. You should have at least gotten sketches and updates before the final product, most artists I've worked with always provide those for me.

But don't assume that just because the artist didn't post the picture anywhere, that it means they think it's shoddy quality or anything like that. Like others have said, artists sometimes won't post commissioned pictures due to possible art theft or if they don't have permission from the commissioner to do so.
