This is why as much as I would love to, and love the money I don't to commissions. A lot of people like my art, but I am personally just not confident in my level of ability to sell my art to anyone. If I'm going to get paid for something, I want it to be the absolute best I can do. I would hate for someone to have paid me for something, and ended up disappointed like OP.

That seems pretty understandable. I think with OP's situation, and in general, the key to a successful commission happening is communication. If you're keeping them in the loop and they're able to give notes along the way, then the chances of things going to hell in a handbasket go down considerably.
