SLAYERS SECRET YAY

Ahem. Yeah, I agree. Although I find it sort of hilarious that just about every Xelloss/Zelgadis doujinshi ever gets rid of Zel's rocky skin and just makes him into Xelloss' weepy blue elf lover.

But the rocky skin can prompt so many 'hard' jokes and is the cause of much angst! Angst is good, rite?

Zelgadis was like my first anime crush. It pains me to see him mutilated so.

TRUFAX: Before I got into Slayers, I was convinced that Zel was the lead character due to his fanbase. And I like him, I really really do...I just wasn't as impressed with him as everybody else, it seems.

Generally, I like my Slayers fanfic with lulz put in. If you were to do an IC Xelloss/Zelgadis thing, it would not be very lulz-y.

Writing angsty, dramatic fics of a show that is heavy on the comedy is hard. (And seriously, how can you even do a character like Amelia without lulz?) Bending the mood a bit Im good with, but... yeah, Zel/Xel is not anywhere near the happy.

Slayers was the show that got me into anime and my opinions of it are really, really biased. XD I love all of the characters like crazy, but especially Zel and Amelia. <3

Also: ICON. Schierke is totally my favourite character in Berserk.

And yet, Slayers fandom seems to be rife with angst fic for every pairing ever. It makes me sad.

Slayers wasn't my first fandom, but it's the one that has stayed with me the longest. It will always be one of my faves!

At least making fun of angst-fic became a popular fandom hobby!

Also, Filia/Xellos was the most amusing thing better. I almost wanted to like it, if only for the laughs.

As for Xellos?
"AuuUUggh!! My finger!"
"Mmm. Delicious, tasty pain."

...not the friendly neighborhood Snuggle-n-Snog bunny.

Filia/Xelloss was.... mhm. Love that pairing. I can remember reading some pretty excellent fic of them during my tenture in Slayers fandom.

But Zel/Amelia is so so so OTP.

This is silly perhaps, but the ending to TRY (with Filia's image song playing) and Amelia's bracelet with Zel (that was it, no?) and all the other scenes...still lives with me as one of the most memorable scenes in any TV show.
