She wasn't directly in SotN at all, as far as I know, though it was popular fan theory that Sonia Belmont was involved with Alucard. (I picked the pic as a sort of generic Castlevania image, I was meaning to envelop the series. I didn't mean SotN specifically.).

The Castlevania games are all part of the same universe and timeline - they all fit together in a continuity (theoretically, although I think there might be a couple contradictions. There are a lot of games, after all). Ret-conning Castlevania Legends means that any games that are going to be made from this point on will ignore the events of Castlevania Legends, and Sonia officially won't exist in the Castlevania timeline.

Ack, my bad, you're right--I was confusing her with MARIA Belmont. That explains it XD;
