(Anonymous) 2014-09-19 03:30 am (UTC)(link)thanks for the rec, checked out the artwork (loved samurai champloo) definitely diggin it.
I'm always curious as to how people from different countries deal with different cultures/their portrayals of them. I'm not brazilian (i'm latinamerican/caribbean), but i'd like to see how this pans out.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-19 04:25 am (UTC)(link)This isn't meant to be personal. It just bugs me that people in general nowadays use the term this way.

Since I'm talking about an anime, whose creators are in turn Japanese, and in turn casting Japanese voice actors for these roles, it's an exception in part for having characters who aren't clearly Japanese in a Japanese setting. I wouldn't be using, let's say, K-ON as an example of something so remarkable for not having white people. It doesn't make sense.
Although, half the folk in the particular show I recced have names like Michiko, or Satoshi Batista for instance, so I find it hard to point out that someone is exactly anything other than vague something similarish or inspired.
