As someone who watches the show

(Anonymous) 2014-09-18 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm 100% okay with you not wanting to watch it. I don't have any triggers or anything like that but I would definitely consider the show VERY triggery and why on earth should you watch something that makes me uncomfortable?
(note: but there were a couple scenes, ESPECIALLY in the second season, that left me muttering "That was so fucked up" to myself in shock)

But that excerpt from that recap definitely rubs me the wrong way (I'm not big on the romanticization of violence) I know a lot of horror fans watch it for the murder porn, but what attracted me to the show was mostly the psychological themes and the good cinematography. (I rarely consume horror anyway)

Yup. Agreed with all of this. I think that is a bad recap because I think the show is intending to make viewers uncomfortable. I actually have a problem when people aren't bothered by stuff on the show.

I agree with this. My sister hates Hannibal because it makes her uncomfortable, and I love it because it makes me uncomfortable. I'd never force her to watch it or anything, though.
