Yeah, I'm going to have to side with the people who think you're expecting something from anime that it's not really designed to deliver. It's an art style that's not really focused on mimicking real life. After all, there's no race of people whose eyes take up half their face or whose hair can defy the laws of physics, but you tend to see a lot of that. It's just down to the preference of the artist.

And it's not just anime. I don't know many white people who look like Elsa and her CGI'd bobble-headed brethren either. Art doesn't always imitate life. And as a fan of surrealism, I'm glad it doesn't.

Ok, really? You're going to go with "It's stylized therefor it's not human and we can't make it look human"

In rebuttal I'm going to post http://nicodimattia.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/house1.jpg

Oh no, that doesn't look remotely human! The head's the same size as the torso! The eyes are huge! The face is super-long! WHO COULD IT POSSIBLY BE?! ARE THEY BLACK?! WHITE? WHO KNOWS?! I think it's a picture of a squash, or perhaps a potato.

Stylized art of humans like in anime is designed to exaggerate or simplify certain features, but still be recognizable as humans. That's why you can give a character tits bigger than they are and people still recognize them as titties! You're not going "That anime thing seems to have some strange growths on its chest, perhaps feelers? Flotation devices?"

What you are saying is, draw characters with exaggerated black features?

Yes, definitely. Let's do that. That sounds like a great idea.

No, Strawman Anon. They're saying that because it's stylized, the characters don't look exactly way a person would in real life.
