I don't know, but, I find that sometimes stuff that should be triggering can sort of have the opposite effect in a way?

Oh, I love this song, especially when Philip Quast sings it.

I'm really sorry you find it triggering.

Does it trigger you because of content or because of association to dark times? In terms of lyrics, I always found 'Stars' to be rather uplifting, in a bleak sort of way.

I find the song inspiring (to study the astronomy or something ;), but looking at the lyrics, I see that it easily could be triggering.
It's so strange how the brain works sometimes. We do what we have to do to manage, I guess.

Evidently been going on for a long time:
From i09: "A tragic suicide epidemic gripped Budapest, Hungary in the wake of World War I — and some believed it was all caused by a popular song. Even weirder than this idea, though, was how the city tried to combat the suicide problem with a "Smile Club."" http://io9.com/the-creepy-story-of-how-budapest-became-a-city-of-smil-1635708606?utm_campaign=socialflow_io9_facebook&utm_source=io9_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow

I'd heard that about "Gloomy Sunday" before, but I didn't know about the Smile Club. That's rather creepy, the photos especially.

huh, the power of music! I'm not into songs, so it seems kinda strange to me.
They should've published something about the song Bèsame Mucho causing an onslaugh of kissing.

< ohgodIshouldn't > Hey, listening to Russell Crowe sing that would trigger anyone to cut themselves. < /sorrynotsorry >

But all easy jokes about Russell Crowe making a terrible Javert aside, if you find it helps you to listen to the song in lieu of self-harming, then I'm glad you've found some sort of alternative or release from those urges. (god, at least listen to the Norm Lewis version - Russell's only saving grace was the acting)
