What to do when a short story turns into something more?

Lately I've found myself thinking about a story that was meant to be a short for fun story (Cyclone) and turning it into a full-on historical fantasy novel. On the one hand I find it kinda cool but I'm also worried about having too much on my plate.

But the idea I keep thinking of is just soo interesting and tempting. I'm thinking maybe I could do something with it, write it up and save it so I can make a manuscript of it and send it to someone.

Write it anyway dude. Or write what's in your head. I just write all my ideas down until I get tired and that way they're kicking around later when they're good and ready to be used.
