I so fucking agree. You've got to take care of your necessary shit first and then you can think about splurging. It's just how it is if you want to be a responsible adult. If you want to be an irresponsible adult, well then have fun when your power gets turned off or you get evicted.

No, seriously, where do we draw the line? Should poor people just use the same old CRT TVs and never buy a flatscreen, even some crappy one by Sanyo?

Personally, the only reason I own a flatscreen television rather than a CRT is because my sister was getting rid of her old flatscreen, and let me have it for a stupidly cheap price. I wouldn't feel comfortable buying something like that new.

You're probably saving money too by buying a video game for your entertainment needs than going out. At least where I live that's the case. Going out for a few drinks with friends will easily cost me $50 for ONE night while a new game can last me weeks.

Personally, my line is to make sure I've got a roof over my head. I'll use credit cards to treat myself, but I'm not horribly in debt. I pay the minimum and I know I'm getting screwed by interest, but at the same time I need good credit rating. I might as well use it to buy things I like.

Because it's none of your fucking business to decide for other people what's "pointless" and what's necessary, for example, to do their jobs or just improve their quality of life.
