I tried writing a horror story in which a serial killer murders a gravedigger, but the gravedigger turned out so adorably awkward that I keep thinking of ways to keep her alive. Problem is, all of them would make the story stop being scary! I hate to sacrifice a perfectly good character . . .

unsolicited suggestion, so feel free to disregard. Perhaps her death isn't the end of her story, but maybe it could be the beginning? You could add a supernatural element to it. Horror as I was taught was more about a primal uncomfortableness than 'scariness.' (Is there a character to catch this serial killer? Maybe it can be plucky gravedigger?)

Ooh, I just got a very good idea. Thank you!
