I had an ex who was like this! He was crashing at a friend's place for free because he "couldn't afford to rent a place" but was still buying games and WarHammer figurines and a giant fucking TV. When he got so broke that he had to file for bankruptcy, his spending on random shit actually got worse, because "it's all gonna be written off next month anyway!"

Needless to say, I did not date him long.

DA. I have a friend who's exactly like this. She's done things like buy a new 3DS and games as soon as they came out (instead of waiting a few months for prices to drop and/or getting them second-hand, like I do), and then days later cried about how she wouldn't be able to pay her rent for that month. She spends large chunks of her food budget on takeaways, and then can't afford anything but plain rice for the rest of the week. It's insane.
