I can relate, but honestly the idea that poor people should scrimp and save and never buy anything nice for themselves, even if it's just a nice dinner, is one of the most angering ideas I've ever faced.

We feel guilty enough buying that $5 game on Steam, we don't need other people making it worse.

That's not really the point, though. A nice dinner is fine. A video game is fine. There's nice things and there's constantly buying expensive things even as you complain that you have no money.
