but it's very strange to read this gigantic thesis on Professor X's motivations and who he is as a person with the caveat that this has nothing to do with the actual Professor X who's been around for 50-ish years.

doesn't bother me. i think mcavoy's character has been more inspired by ultimateverse than 616, anyway.

well. like a millar character. no, you're not wrong. but imo, as far as inspiring mcavoy's xavier goes, he's nowhere near as emotionally teflon-y/controlled as 616!xavier, even claremont's young 616!xavier. i find them very different, tonally.

if i'm not mistaken, millar is a consultant for fox's marvel properties, so it makes sense.

But what if they specify that "this is only about movies!Professor X"? The X-Men movie series is canonically a separate parallel universe (Earth-10005) from the comics (Earth-616).

and then there are some posts, like this rant about "ERIK WOULD NEVER INTENTIONALLY HURT ANYONE HE'S JUST TROUBLED,"

i don't count tumblr rants from lokisgirlluvsbennedict types as real meta.

You're so fucking dumb.

Movies =/= Comics.

They are different universes.

Idk I think as far as the MCU goes at this point we've seen enough of the characters in that universe to get a good grasp on them these days. I mean I don't agree with every meta I see out there, but it doesn't bother me that there are people only using the films for their meta either.

That would be really cool actually, I've not seen it myself in fandom but I can't imagine that no one has done it. It'd be really interesting to do so that you could compare the movie and comic characters to see how they differ.(Ha, man I'm the same with Storm, though I will /sigh over Emma with you too).
