I don't get why the last one is so hard to understand? I see it as an extension of roleplaying.

Wait. Wait. People do that? I mean, there are times when I go anon (it's usually when I'm feeling really socially anxious. I've been trying to post anon less and less, though, as a way of battling that), but I'd never go anon and pretend to be someone else in a thread that I've started while signed in. :-/

That...really rubs me the wrong way, more than I'd have expected it to. And the "it's just roleplaying" explanation only really works if everyone knows that that's what's going on (although I guess now it can be assumed that everyone's "roleplaying." But wtf even is that?).

I sense you hear "role play" and think "fictional" when in actuality it could easily just be someone with conflicting thoughts who I doesnt want to admit they're conflicted.

I'm not sure why that's not a suitable answer for you, tbqh. Why do you need me to invent answers for other users when I've already given you a valid one for myself. Unless you don't think it is valid, but that's not really my problem.
