While that's true, there is a point at which being emotional starts to interfere with a person's ability to function, and that person might want to look at ways of managing her/his emotions.

This. Being emotional and sensitive can be a great thing, but it can also be kind of awful and alienate people if it goes to far to the extreme side of it. Same goes for being stoic.
