I go anon in Doctor Who discussions because I'm still trying to pretend to myself that I'm not a Doctor Who fan but I should really just cut that out and accept that I'm one of them. Gabba gabba hey.

Okay, that made me laugh.

I get the anxiety thing, though. I have it too and sometimes I worry way too much about my comments, even when I'm not saying anything of note. I don't often comment on controversial topics, not because my opinions are polarizing ones, but because I don't feel like I'm eloquent enough to express myself in the way I want. (Or, same as you, I'm not sure I'm educated enough on the topic.) For that same reason I very rarely post anon.
