I mean that you have to watch characters that you see amazing chemistry between go to other people to express romantic affection. To be honest, for me this is personally very frustrating because the pairings I tend to ship are often extremely emotionally intimate friendships between the most developed characters with the most screen time together. And then I have to watch them go and kiss another character and…I just don't buy it. The canon pair can be shown kissing as many times as you want, but it always pales in comparison to the devotion and sacrifice the characters of my ship express towards one another. Which is why it's so frustrating that I'm stuck watching these shallow canon love stories when I find the friendship so much more compelling and having so much more chemistry.

Physicality is no substitute for an emotionally well-developed relationship.

I understand your frustration as a rarer pair non-canon shipper.

I ship Sam/Steve in MCU and treasure each and every fic I come across. I mean…I get why Bucky/Steve is so popular (HOLY CHRIST the potential for hurt/comfort, the intensity, the woobieness, etc.) but there's a special place in my heart for Sam/Steve.

(Note that Peggy/Steve isn't an example of a shallow love story in my opinion as I quite like Peggy. I just brought up Sam/Steve as an example of a rarer pair.)

Oh, thanks! And fair enough. I quite understand what you mean, especially the first paragraph. I wish those shallow romances didn't have to be shoe-horned into everything. Not everything needs romance. It's ridiculous.

And I'm not in MCU so I don't have an opinion there.
