Re: What kind of meta do you like?

I come from Tolkien and other book fandoms where there's a scholarly presence. Not to say all the meta is this way but I have seen a good amount of meta where people quote obscure HoME passages and Tolkien's letters to make a point but are still okay if people disagree. I absolutely love when people do that. I think it's because Tolkien has contradictory stuff in his writing to begin with so everyone picks and chooses a little bit anyway. I have seen a few of these unicorn metas in other media fandoms (movies and TV) but I think a lot of that was back in the LJ days.
