I have a fairly good idea who you're talking about and I think you're exaggerating, tbh. Nothing's stopping you from writing your meta and as long as you acknowledge the things that really are problematic about the Scotty/Uhura scene from an out-of-universe point of view - like the mind manipulation and how it ties into racial/gender stereotypes - then you're good.I really don't think anyone is saying or has ever said that you can't like the pairing or headcanon it as a wonderful relationship, but it's more that you shouldn't try to argue that it's canonically that way because from an objective, out-of-universe point of view yes it is depicted badly. Just make it clear that your meta is purely your own headcanon and that you do acknowledge and criticise the problematic elements of the STV scene. Basically, just don't give the impression that you're romanticising the mind manipulation or excusing the problematic implications of the ship and the way it was dealt with in canon.
