Re: High school reunions

Nope. I refused to go to mine. i don't talk to high school people. I was severely bullied by both students and teachers. I was severely depressed and everyone thought I was just lazy. The guy I liked agreed to go to a dance with me when I asked him and then told me he had forgotten about plans, only I find out later that he went with someone else. My best friend asked me to our prom, and it turns out it was a pity date (though I'm endlessly amused by the fact that I've been told by my sister that he has married someone who looks like me and is almost as nerdy as me).

My high school was a super conservative religious school, which was not me even then. I was a girl with actual ambition and opinions, which freaked out everyone, including the teachers. And from what I hear, all my peers are still just as conservative.

Basically, high school sucked. And I have nothing in common with these people. And I don't really want to see them. And the reunion planners keep sending me emails asking for money and can't take a hint.

And yes, I have feelings on the subject. Sorry for spewing them on you.

You're good, you're good. I understand. I was bullied too. Part of the reason I went was to see if anybody grew up. They didn't, but I got a great ego boost.

I just don't want to bring it back up. Part of my healing process was breaking contact with everyone, even the couple of nice people, because I needed high school to be in the past.

So I think going to the reunion would be really unhealthy for me personally, But I totally get in your case enjoying that ego boost.
